slight play in gearstick

Post by grasmere59 »

My gearstick on my 2002 110 Rapier has got a slight bit of play in it,if you leave it in neutral you can rock it slightly before it moves anything,it's only very slight and does in know way affect the gearchange but i have driven a couple of other 406's lately and the gearsticks seemed tighter,is there any bushes that can be replaced?

I'll live with it then,as i say it's only slight and i would'nt have noticed it should'nt have been like that if i had'nt driven another 110.

I remember my old mans old mk1 Cortina, the gearstick was that long the rear seat passengers could almost change gear and the little bit of play at the bottom of the gearstick made it like stirring a pudding when it got to the top of the stick!

Got plenty of play in my stick (........) and a bit tricky to select reverse and first sometimes from cold but got the knack of it now. Would like it to be tighter, like my Accord's was but it doesn't bother me after nearly 3 years.
