vibration/solid flywheel
I have a slight vibration on my new to me 2003 2.0 hdi exec estate,it seems around 2000 rpm and also as you decellerate it goes through a vibration just before tickover,my old Rapier 110 did'nt do this but if i hadn't driven my Rapier as a comparison i probably wouldn't have noticed the vibration on this car. This car has had a solid flywheel conversion 10k ago, could this cause a vibration as my old Rapier still had the dmf and was as smooth as silk. The clutch is smooth with no judder and a good bite but it just has a slight vibration from somewhere,if you cruise at 70mph you can feel a slight buzz/vibration if you just rest your fingers on the back of the cruise control stem or the audio stem on the steering column, all the wheels are balanced so i think it is engine related.

Re: vibration/solid flywheel
Iwouid check the lower, back mount
when the one started failing on mine it started off just giving out vibration on tick over Made the dash vibrate
then it progressed to a big Clunk when either engine was switched off or started,
it gave out a slight judder which faded once car got out of 2nd gear,

Re: vibration/solid flywheel
I'll try and crawl under it tomorrow and check,it does feel a bit harsher than my Rapier on start up and shutdown.

Re: vibration/solid flywheel
Ilooked at a 406 a couple of week back,
it had a bit of vibration in the dashboard
someone had fitted anew mount Bush on it and put it in wrong,.
but ive been told alot of people are doing that now, mainly taxi drivers to save buying and having to fit new bushes ever 6 months with the heavy mileage they do,
if the Mount looks good give it a Squint over and check its been fitted Right,
if it hasnt id just leave it ,

Re: vibration/solid flywheel
I know this is an old thread but could you elaborate on how you fit the lower engine mount wrong, cos I've just fitted one and still getting vibrations... cheers
Re: vibration/solid flywheel
if youve fitted it correctly the gaps in the mount shouid be at the sides,
thus allowing for alittle movement,
if its fitted incorrectly, you will notice the dashboard will vibrate, it will be the same effect as fitting a Solid engine mount Bush,,
see pic, the parts marked shouid be alighned at 6oclock and 12oclock,
the solid parts marked are the supports of the bush,
