406 Hdi 110

Post by 406rsr »

Can any one tell me how you get intercooler out.
All panels undone at top and hoses removed.
Intercooler move but does not want to pull up and out.
seems as though sticking at bottom.
Any clues as to what next step is?

I could be wrong but isn't the bottom of the intercooler just located into rubber mounts and a firm but gentle lever in the right place would help it out

I have just looked in the manual and it says

Remove
engine top covers
air filter assembly
battery
outlet and inlet air duct
unbolt upper mounting plate front crossmember
lift intercooler from lower mountings

They are a pig to get out,it took me ages of wiggling, cursing and shoving to get it out,i almost resorted to taking the water rad out aswell. It is possible but a pig,the bottom of it is just a push fit on 2 lugs into the lower crossmember but if i remember rightly there is a plastic trim panel that restricts access. When i refitted the new cooler if i remember right i trimmed the plastic trim panel to give more room.
