heater hot/cold mixer/blender flap?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

heater hot/cold mixer/blender flap?

Post by EccentricDyslexic »

Hi chaps,

my 406 heater doesnt completely go to its cold setting, it still seems to mix hot air in, even though the knob is fully anti clockwise. where is the flap that this control operates? is there an exploded diagram about anywhere that shows the flow through the 406's heater system?

i also had a problem with the recirculate flap motor clicking, i removed the motor and set the flap at the extreme of its postion(by turning the cog that the motor acted upon)...is this ok?

cheers all
:P

Waking this thread up as I could do with knowing where the mixer flap is and how best to gain access.

My heater is erratic. Pp2000 seems to show everything is working fine including the interior temp sensor but it blows hot then cold. I want to check the mixer is not sticking.

The hot/cold air mixing flap motor is attached to the aircon housing on the right hand/driver's side.
From the driver's side, look at the floor console, the side panel with a footwell vent is removable. But you'll probably need to remove the gear lever gaiter and surround to undo the screw that secures the panel. Once you've done that you should be able to see the motor. Number 6 in the attached pic.

Btw, the air distribution flap motor is on the left/passenger's side of the aircon housing. If I remember correctly, getting to this motor is close to impossible without disassembling the dashboard.
