Indicators no clickey!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Indicators no clickey!

Post by Blubayou »

Evening all,

following a year of trouble free motoring, my indicators are dieing, just before MOT time of course!

They are all working properly but the audible 'click' sometimes doesn't work & has degenerated in the last week, from mostly clicking to rarely.

Anyone know how to get to it, also is it a fancy electronic sounder or a traditional metal clicker?

Thanks,

Blubayou

If it is a comms 2000 and as your car is a 2004 it will be i think it is an integral part of the whole steering column swithgear.

Yep, it's part of the com2000. I've no idea if being able to hear it is part of the MOT. I know you used to get sounders on bikes, might be cheaper than replacing it & easier than fixing it...

Burger it, I'm off to pull my old one to bits again...

Yep, it's a tiny speaker in the top r/h corner of the com2000, at the base of the wiper stalk. It's connected by two bent metal strip things which just touch on the circuit board. Not a lot you'll be able to do with it without pulling the com2000 to bits :(

Ok Guys,

thanks for the info. Doesn't sound good, I'll take a look over Christmas & let you know how I get on.

Might have to use the Spitfire as a daily driver

Merry Christmas!

MOT says you either have to have a light or a tick. So aslong as one works your fine.

Had the steering cowling off, found what looks like a mounting for the speaker, swore a little & put it all back. Steering wheel off job etc...

Will check the car over next week & take it for MOT.

Incidentally, just got a pair of new rear tyres, 205/55 16s aren't particulary cheap, so I went for 'Sunny' radials, China's finest. Look great, I'll let you know when I put the car in a bush....
