PAS Pump

Post by PVFCpug »

Got a horrible bearing type noise emiting from the area of the PAS pump. Assuming it is that, is there any differance between models, or are they all the same?

iwouid take, the aux belt off and turn each pulley by hand,
feel for any roughness,

Sound travels so iwouidnt condemn the pas pump withought checking first,
might take 20mins to check but it couid save you a Few ££s

Stripping it down on wednesday, so by the sounds of it its either Belt, Tensioner, PAS Pump, or alternator!

Can you get a tension roller as opposed to the full tensioner? It does sound like a bearing type noise so this is my suspision.

I had this, and it was the idler. I changed the idler and the tensioner and its been fine since. These would be the first things I would check, and they are quite cheap to.
I dont think your ears will be good enough to say which bit is making the noise with the engine running as it is all so close together.
Top tip. Make sure you do a diagram of the belt routing before you take it off, as it can be quite confusing to get back on.
