Sat nav disk player

Hi I am new to 406 ownership and now have my Autotrader 2003 406 2.0 110 hdi glx estate, there are a few niggles which I noticed on my test drive they didnt put me off the car but I need advice on how to fix them.

I am splitting them into 4 seperate posts as they may need idividual responses.

The sat nav disk player in the rear of the car does not appear to be working, the hand book says it should show a power on light I cant see this light, Im not sure if the disk is in the player I have pressed the eject botton and nothing happens so I think there is no power, any ideas?

There are two orange lights on the front of the unit, one is for power and I think the other is on when the disc is being read.

I'd have the unit out and see if there is any power in the cables. (Is there a fuse?)

I have a disc... (I think it's 2005)

Thanks for the reply there are no Orange lights showing will see about taking it out during the week, disk may be in there if not how much would you want for the one you have?

I bought a fully funtioning satnav unit from ade1122 of ebay,he always seems to have them in stock at a very reasonable price aswell.

Ive found out why the sat nav disk player wasnt working it had been disconnected.
I re connected it and the amber on light came on and the CD light kept flashing, I managed to eject the CD and re insterted it but the light still kept flashing and when I tried the display it read CD Rom unavailable.

Does this mean the head unit is stuffed or is it the CD disk? Anyone know please

My original said something like unable to read disc or something similar and that unit was checked proffesionally and was stuffed,when i went to ade1122's yard he gave me a couple of units to try in my car and one did exactly the same as yours and i tried the original disc that was in it and my old disc but it still sat there with the light flashing i then tried another unit and it came up on the mfd "downloading software" and after about 5 mins it burst into life,the strange thing was it would only work with my old disc from my old unit and not the disc that was originally in it,they seem very fickled things,to be honest there very basic sat navs and i only got mine working as it's fitted but doubt if i'll use it in anger.

Thanks for the reply I probably feel the same my phone has nokia maps and the sat nav on there is very good its just that as its there I thought I would try and get it going, I have spoken to ade1122 about some other stuff and hes not too far from me so I may just take a trip over one day and see if I can get a running head unit I need a display too as thats covered in vertical lines so hes looking out for one of those for me.

Have a look at ebay 260933420163,looks like a nav display to me as it's got the remote sensor eye.

I've had two discs in mine, the original one and the current replacement one, and both work fine.

The last time I got a load of 'navigation CD-ROM un-readable' the lens needed cleaning.
