Battery advice needed...

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

If it's in a D8 or a non-406, it might do it. You've got virtually no hope of it starting in a D9 though, as it won't be able to keep the ECU and BSI happy (needed for the immobiliser authorisation) while powering the starter. I think the specified battery for D9s is something like 650CCA, and I know from personal experience that even slightly worn batteries will cause headaches.

It's on the floor mate not in a car it just needs to power the basic engine systems, instrument panel and be able to crank the engine. It's the early type so no BSI to power either cheers

What I was trying to get at was it's not the starter you need to worry about - it's being able to keep everything running that's needed to ensure the immobiliser doesn't kick in, while the starter's running. With an unlocked or aftermarket ECU only powering the starter, coil pack, ecu and fuel pump, you might not have any problem, but if you're trying to power all a car's usual systems I wouldn't put any money on it

The minimum i thought was 450 cca and a 600-650 cca battery is better.
