hey people, need some advise, my parents 406 is sitting on the drive after the clutch failing on sunday-there threatening to scrap it but cant afford a new car so I wana fix it for them.
whats the deal with fitting times on these clutches??
cheapest place to get one?
how hard is it with basic tools-on the drive job or I have acces to car lift and air tools.
Also the car is cutting out on idle when cold, i adjusted the throttle cable which helped for a while then i think the ECU adjusted again, so is the a breather, idle valve blocked? Is it accessable?
Any help with these would be well appreciated.

clutch book time is 4.1 hours, if you have a haynes manual and study it hard, take it slow, it should be no problem, it can be done on axel stands but is a bit of a pig, getting the driveshafts out of the hubs can be a pain,
regarding the cutting out, thats mostl likely the stepper motor, try cleaning and synchronising it, to do this turn the ignition on for 30 seconds, then off for 10 seconds, do this three times on the 4th time, start the car and let it idle, it may need some help with accelrator to keep it idling, after about 30 seconds it should idle itlself, after this leave it to run for about a minute, then go for a gentle drive, it will be jerkey and cut out but after about 30 mins it should all clear up
