Hmm abit stupid really! I know my Dad's old ST220 used to just stay in Auto, but everytime you started the car up it would do one single wipe. Used to destroy wiper blades!

Might be a bit of a safety protection,if you started the car when there was heavy frost, ice or snow on the screen the last thing you want is for the wipers to come on when there frozen to the screen.

I have auto lights messgage, press the button on the end of the indicator stalk then the airline stewardess sound, with automatic headlights activated

If you really want the MFD to shout out to you, pull out the wires under the seat to get AIRBAG FAULT :cheesy: , or airbag system defective
Park on a really steep hill OIL LOW, or oil level low

The Type B display shouts in capitals, the type C display has its own set of rephrased warnings, in addition to showing what doors open it spells it out

What pisses me off is the way it grasses you up if you do a handbrake turn.

Wish I could find a sensible way to swap between auto wipers and std intermittent. another thing, notice how it cleverly swaps from continuous to intermittent when you stop at a junction? UNLESS you use auto! :x

Never use auto lights - from my days of running old bangers, the last thing you want is gadgets to drain your battery before you get the effing thing started.

Auto lights shouldn't put the lights on until the engine is started

You mean "try" to do a handbrake turn, before you remember just how ineffectual the 406 handbrake is?

On the 406 it just slows the back wheels slightly.

On the Xantia it just makes the car stop.

My car has these, very useful when I get home blind-drunk* and can't get the front door key in, I used to faff around for ages when I had the 406......slept on the doorstep once.
