Garage Floor paint

Ive looked at some paints for garage floors, has anyone ever painted a concrete floor, are they much good.
Im asking because after changing the brakes on the suzuki there is fluid everywhere, and it would be nice if it didn't soak into the floor.

Floor paints are fine as long as you have a good solid floor to start with,we paint our boiler room floors with floor paint but if your concrete is flakey or crumbly it will just lift off again.

My old man has done his garage floor and seem to remember it best to do it when its warm in summer as it sticks better.

The floor itself is actually very good, i got a mate to come round and plaster the walls, but he also concreted the floor, its very smooth, there is 2 holes in the corner where a radiator one was but everywhere else is well done.
What is the best type of paint to use?

Use proper garage paint which has a fighting chance of resisting some fluids. No recommendations on this I'm afraid, just some hints

Make sure the floor is flat. Mine is textured for some utterly incomprehensible reason, and the little dents do a grand job of collecting muck, oil, brake dust, etc and when supporting weight, jacks don't move smoothly on textured floors either.

Mop up fluids - ESPECIALLY BRAKE FLUID as soon as possible. Otherwise you'll have to re-paint so buy more than you think you'll need...

Best to do it in 2 coats,
allow the first coat to dry out properly for a day or two,

1 coat can look abeit patchy,

Do'sent take too long with a Rolle'r.

The stuff ive used is, International stuff,
Most probs the cheape'st of them all,

Your best to shop round for prices mate,

B&Q is abit of a joke, there very small tins are around £15 last time ilooked,

Not the stuff I used I have a feeling none of it is that durable, unless you use an epoxy which will survive an engine being dropped onto it but isn't going to be cheap. Google says Ronseal do garage floor paint...

Ive use old paint, as an undercoat (base)
Anything Masonary paint, gloss, etc is good on new concrete,
as if its anew floor the Lime- whats in the mix of the concrete soaks alot of paint in,

can make it abit costly if its the first time its being painted,

if its alarge area id base coat it first,

Heya,

I had the same problem in my garage, loads of oil / fluid marks on the floor.
I firstly bought some cheap stuff from B&Q but it lifed off after 2 weeks only!
Then, I bought this ( http://www.floorpaintexpress.co.uk/gara ... paint.html)to coat the floor last summer and I'm more than happy with it.
It's a bit more complicated to apply than a "normal paint" because you've got to mix two components first but I'm far from being a DYI expert... and I still managed to apply it properly.

Does it provide a bit of texture? Wouldn't want a floor like an ice rink!

I've had very good results with international garage floor paint. One floor is 15 years old and still going strong.

Youve done some good work there,

if iwas u iwouid let it Breath for a bit Before painting it,
and if your painting the walls, look in the Builders section @ B&Q and grab a tub of paint, It says on it, Paint for New plaster,
its not in the paint section, its with the Builders stuff, Near where the plasterboard is etc,

itl save you afew quid, as it dosent soak into the walls like other paints on new plasters,
