Central Locking still driving me crazy!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Central Locking still driving me crazy!

Post by Peter86 »

I gave up trying to stop/find the leak i had on my passenger side pillar (where the sensor is). The only cure i found for it was not to park the car pointing down hill lol(for obvious reasons) not a cure, but it drove me mad trying to find it and admitted defeat. Not long after i was having central locking issues, where the central locking would lock/unlock randomly, and have crazy "fits" when i tried to open/shut the car. Also gave up on this one, as im not very good with electrics, but i have looked in the obvious spots, took the carpet up in the footwell, checked the plugs/checked the loom going through the door e.t.c
Anyway i chose to live with these issues, and a few weeks later, after parking the car pointing up-hill only. The central locking issue fixed itself and i had no leaks. Now im wondering if the problems are connected and the water getting in is causing the central locking issue, seems like it has dried out now and i dont get any problems.

What componants around the passenger side of my car can i check to see if it is getting wet? as this could lead me to the leaking problem! I cant imagine how happy i would be if i managed to find the leak aswell!! I have checked all the cables plugs in the footwell under the carpet and they are fine...

Any help/ideas/guidence greatly appreciated.

You might want to read this: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=12118

Although I don't think this applies to a semi-mux D9, 2001 could be either...
