307 hdi 90 - slow/lacking power

Post by Parm »

Apart from my 2.2 hdi coupe, I own a 307 2.0hdi 90  but for the past year or so, it seems to have been lacking some power!!! Considering my sister n dad have been using it since May last yr. But now I've got it back its really horrible to drive. You put your foot down to go n she don't go  its feels like you have a blown turbo, your rev it so hard n put your foot down n as you climb up the gears it starts to pick up but still lack.of power. At first we thought the clutch was slipping so had that done but made little effect. PP2000 brings up no fault codes so no help there. I've unplugged the map sensor n still no difference. I've read on some forum's people have had the same problem, but not a lot has been said about the any fix on this n to be honest I don't know where to look on this as the back if the engine is so far near the windscreen I don't understand how your meant to work on the back of it lol I've heard some say it may be a vaccum fault, or something to do with the wastegate? Or egr related.

Any help or suggestions appreciated :cheesy: Or I might cut my losses n get rid n go back to the days of a 306 d turbo 8)

Parm, does is pick up when the turbo kicks in but is flat until then, or just totally flat throughout the range?

On the girlfriends 307 it was flat until turbo kicked in for every gear, has the mechanic have a look and a pipe going onto the turbo was a bit loose and seemed to be getting 'sucked' closer everytime it kicked in

Sorry for delay getting back. Last Saturday I decided to investigate a bit more. As I removed the black material under the strut area n rear of engine, I noticed the big black pipe that goes from the air box down to the left side of the engine, it has a joint in the middle with a hose clip. It seem very very very loose! When I started the engine n revved it air was escaping. So I removed the air box n the big pipe, gave it a clean n put it all back together n tightened all hose clips, took for spin n it feels somewhat better :) its been parked up for a week as I'm using the coupe, so will see how it goes as I need to tighten the top of the struts as thats what's been clonking n u can see a slight gap n now the horn works when its wants to...

I heard it could be that. When u lock the car with the remote u can hear it. I wouldn't want the airbag to go off in my face if I attempted that

I did it on my parents' 53 plate 307. Followed the instructions on that page and it was all fine, works perfectly every time now.

I decided not to take the airbag out n steering cover, didn't fancy that lol but I have fixed it by pressing really hard on the steering wheel where the 2 connectors would be n now it works a treat :)
