I 'aquired' a new clock from the breakers yesterday as my existing one was working but the bulb had blown. When I took the bulb holder out the plastic that retains the bulb holder in place fell apart as it had gone brittle over time.
I put a nice new bulb in the replacement but still no backlight, clock works fine but only visible in daylight. Any thoughts on why I'm getting no power to the bulb but the clock is working ??

Mine The same the two
Metal contacts move as u put the bulb in witch course it
Not to work I had 2 clocks both the same problem it's annoying as hell but I just live with it unless u can find one that has the bulb working already I wouldn't bother

Re: Clock (time) backlight
i think it will be the metal pins it sits on. ive had about 5 clocks over years cos they break to easy when changing bulb.
once i soldered an LED to board but leds light is crap and it acts like a spot light in 1 small area.
have you tried twisting the bulb slightly making sure the metal contacts are touching both sides

All fixed now Gary, I dismantled the working clock that my ham fists broke the facia on removing it from my old car and transplanted the internals into the one I got from the breakers. Inside they use a series of springs as connectors, I'm guessing something wasn't making a proper contact.
