Auto headlamp & fuel cap error

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Auto headlamp & fuel cap error

Post by lionyo »

Hi,

The fuel cap light on 406 hdi 136 estate is stuck on, I tried my Dads fuel cap on mine and mine on his car but made no difference so I suspect it is the fuel cap sensor. Where is the fuel cap sensor located and how much will it set me back?

Also the autoheadlamp wipers do not work I pressed the switch but nothing no message on the display to say the autoheadlamps are active or noise!! What could this be is it some sort of sensor and where is it located?

Looking forward to your responses chaps!

you have to keep the auto headlight button pressed in until you hear a bleep.

Your doing it with key on accessory right? Doesn't work on ignition or engine running.

Edit : ignore me. That's to disable them. As said above to enable its a long press with the engine running. If your having no joy I wouldn't have a clue sorry

I will have a go at turning the Auto lights on both with the engine running and off and see what the outcome is will be reporting back.

As for the fuel cap open light staying on I think I am right to say that it is a reed switch similar to this for a 307 on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-307-F ... 3f133d5da5

To fix this I will need to find the harness leading from the sensor which is visible in the o/r wheel arch and is joined at a connector attached to the chassis underneath. Remove the sensor & harness, The sensor is just clipped in place.

I stand corrected though :cheesy:
