Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

D8 Immoliser Issue

Post by gumby6371 »

Hi all,
jumped in my car last night and the immobiliser key pad was dead. When I looked carefully I noticed that just as you dropped it down to access the keypad the red light was on but went out as I lowered it further.
I dropped the fuse panel down and hey presto I could then access a fully lit keypad through the back of the fuse panel cover :D

Here is the question, clearly one of the wires running into the keypad is making a bad contact and needs refitting but as it's bloody cold if I disable the immobiliser temporarily using the start engine then pull plug method do I just plug it back in when I've fixed the offending wire?

I know I can just disable it and never worry about it again but the car is in fantastic condition for it's age and I'd like to keep everything working in case I ever sell it. Other than the keypad the only fault on the car is the backlight has gone on the stereo display which is pretty bloody good for a 15 year old Pug :cheesy:

Just unplug it with the engine running and replace it with a cubby hole instead ;)
