Got 5"s of snow up here,

not been driving in yet,
but been havin alaugh at some of the Drivers on the Road, (Absolute Clowns)
there trying to get up hill near me, Revin the Nads off the cars, the more they rev the more they sink,
ones just crashed into someRailings

What is it with people , they build upadecent speed and then slam on the brakes and Rev the feck out the car,

It's quite funny here too especially my mate last year in his 806 diesel he saw me every day pull out of our street without even a wheelspin in my 1.9td xsara i'd just roll back into the dry part of my parking space then let the diesel engine take me up the hill... i kept saying to him park facing up and do as i do but being a know it all he'd do the same every day... (screem the blx off it)... then he was panniking the one day he had slid all the way down the street and needed to get out so gave me the keys... i met him up the top of the street and gave him his car back ... No doubt he'll forget all this and turn into a boy racer again soon.

i live in a cul de sac thats slightly slopes down on the other side, anyway last year when we had bad snow guy in his 206 gti couldnt get up the slight slope in the snow cos he was revving knackers off it and going nowere.
i says get out and let me show you.
no revs at all. slowly off clutch and bingo straight out.

Gets me why people still drive in it,

When you see no taxis on the Road obviously that shouid be a Clue not to bother, if they carnt get out safely no one can.

Problem is that people approach it as normal road condtions and grip. Forgetting that the ice and things will minize your grip and that you need to use minimal movements on the controls to keep that grip.........

I love snow driving, its great fun when you hit the real icey patches!!

I saw 6 abandoned BMW's on a slight hill near me on Saturday night

I trundled past them in 3rd gear doing 1100 rpm all the way up the hill

On a dual carriageway, where everyone uses the one inside lane, they were beginning to slow down on the approach to a hill so I ventured out into the fresh snow on the unused lane and got much more traction sailed past them all in 4th gear, again at 1100 rpm and made a 'run up' for the hill in a 'keep moving' approach. I knew if I'd have stopped that would have been it for me - having low profiles and Max torque available at 1500 rpm does not make a good snow car

Bloody scary though, I was out on a mercy mission to rescue my Mother, finally got home at 11:15pm otherwise I'd have left the car at home safe.

Everyones talking about snow, there was one sort of cold day, a miserable and wet day, and then today was sunny.

I had a colleague come into my office yesterday lunchtime asking if I was aware my car was no longer in my parking bay. Rushed out and sure enough it was nearly 2 yards from where I parked it

So, thinking it would be a heck of a coincidence my handbrake failing while there's snow about, the first thing I did was rocked the car back and forwards. It moved. The wheels didn't turn Obviously the snow I'd parked on had melted and gravity had taken the car forwards. The skid marks without tread pattern also suggests this was the case. Looking around the car park, it wasn't just mine that had moved - there were no other cars parked within about a yard of the wall!

How steep is the gradient I park on? Not very! If you take the handbrake off in the dry, you could probably walk a lap of the car at a leisurely pace before it moves a yard.

Blimey, that's a bit worrying The question is do you park it at the bottom so it's got nowhere to slide to or at the top where no-one's car will slid into it?

That happened to a Police car round here years ago - parked on an Icy hill, snowy wet tyres formed a pool of water - then Ice and off it went bouncing off every car/lamp post/ kerb it could until it reached the bottom.

Was in the local rag an everyfing, something like.... Red-faced officers, unattended car.....death.....destruction....mayhem....council tax etc etc
