Re: Wanted 2.1
Out of interest, what is it about the 2.1 that makes you want it over a 1.9? I've only owned a 2.1 but from everything I've heard they're basically the same but with a worse fuel pump (in terms of running on veg).
OK and a little more bhp.

Smoother engine easy gear changes drives better than my 1.9 well the one I drove does anyway and it's got more poke plus I'd never run my car on veg oil

Fair enough mate, just wondering. FWIW my 2.1 has never seen anything other than pump diesel and never will eithermidsdaz wrote:Smoother engine easy gear changes drives better than my 1.9 well the one I drove does anyway and it's got more poke plus I'd never run my car on veg oil

Good luck with the search.

Re: Wanted 2.1
How much saving are you actually making though? i bought a 1ltr veg oil in asda (own brand) for £1.52 but their diesel was £1.38.7... even their 3ltr bottles were something like 4 quid?StevieboyTD wrote:Heh, mine is Bosch'd and will never see pump diesel!
Re: Wanted 2.1
The thing with running on new veg is to look out for special offers, I bought 45 litres from tesco last month at 93p a litre saving about £21 over pump prices.
If you're able to get hold of waste oil and you you've got the time and space to filter it properly you can be looking at 30p a litre.
It really comes down to letting the waste stuff settle properly, skimming the animal fats off and filtering it down well enough, all very easy to do 'IF' you can get hold of enough waste oil to make it worth the effort.
You could go down the bio route which will run in a bosch or lucas derv engine but requires some initial investment in hardware and careful production/washing so you don't destroy your fuel pump.
The simplest and cheapest solution is well filtered waste oil and a bosch fuel pump and mix 50/50 with diesel in cold weather. Unfortunately I can't get hold of enough waste oil where I live

Sounds like a good buy, what are you planning to do with your old 1.9?
