It reminds me of conversations I've had with veggie warriors about why we shouldn't farm animals and don't need to eat meat to survive and be healthy (usually ones with good sturdy leather boots and jackets on!!)

Now there is no argument from me that over the centuries man has messed about with bloodlines etc to produce animals more useful to us which in my opinion is wrong.
However if we all stop eating meat, wearing animal skins, using animal by products, breeding for sport etc.. in reality what are the consequences?

Step 1, turn all the land previously used for cattle over to crops.
Step 2, cull millions of animals which are no longer required by us and now have nowhere to live as we have crops where they used to live.
Step 3, Increase pollution levels by the production of synthetic products previously obtained as animal by products.

If you think about it the list goes on and on.

My other half is a veterinary nurse and if you ask her about pretty much any 'breed' of dog she will tell you exactly what that animal will suffer with due to in-breeding by breeders to develop particular characteristics and charge stupid money for them.

Have I made my point yet?

Basically line the kennel club against a wall and shoot them - job done :supafrisk:

Apologies for the rather sweeping generalisation about breeders, the other half knows quite a few that do it for the love of the breed and their animals are looked after regardless of cost.
On the other side of the coin she gets called out with the vet to RSPCA cases, the first time some animals are let out of their tiny cages is to be cleaned up ready for someone to come and buy it for hundreds if not thousands of pounds.
Then of course you've got breeds which the KC say should have this that and the other and you end up with dogs bred with skulls so small the brain is too small to fit inside properly etc....

Give me a mongrel any day, apart from the fact they're 10 a penny they tend to be healthier and live longer.

No need to apologise mate,

On another note, Greyhound is totaly differnt to other dogs, (Think of horses)
Theyre Bred to run, withought the track they dont have a purpose too many people.

all these Antis couid walk into the likes of B/V and ask for the dogs when there career is finished,
they wont because they dont want them, so if they dont want them and wont give them a home why stand on soap box shouting cruelty?

ive took loads on from tracks and gave them a home until ifound the right person for them, (Takes months)

Theres no cruelty at the tracks that happens when dogs land in the wrong hands,

ive seen loads mistreated in the past and its been people thats got the greyhounds to breed with lurchers once theyve got alitter off them theyre either starved or dumped,

Big celebs, like vinnie jones, go to watch the dogs /own dogs, http://www.vinniejones.co.uk/dogs_index ... ction=dogs

isaw chez off coranation st there a few week back,

the antis didnt preach to them :?

Rspca?
they dont help greyhounds, theres no room at the inn for them as far as they are concernd
dog pound dont take them in,
Theres no funding for Greyhound sancturays, (its the tracks that pay the £350 santuary fees)
Vets - not all vets no about greyhounds, theyre still learning ,
thus many Deceased greyhounds go to liverpool university somewhere - iwont say what theyre used for :(
