PP2000 - Double check I'm doing this right...

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

PP2000 - Double check I'm doing this right...

Post by rlees85 »

Sorry for all the threads. Once I learnt this stuff though hopefully I'll be able to give back rather than just keep asking....

I just want to check I am using PP2000 right before I return my reader.

Using DiagBox 5.31 I am doing:

Select Marque: Peugeot
Select Model: 406 R Coupe (Tried 406 Coupe too - with same result)
Peugeot Diag/Peugeot Planet 2000/(something else): Peugeot Planet 2000
Enter DAM: Entered DAM from door
Global Tests
Computer asks to check device is connected etc. At this point, USB connection and connection to car is made, ignition on, economy mode NOT active

ALL tests including engine come back: No Reply from ECU.

Dodgy reader?

I should add my KWP2000+ Reads the MAP file no problems at all!
However my ELM327 will not connect using any protocol either.

Was about to say check the diagnostic socket supply fuse, when I noticed your KWP2000 works. :?

Looks like you're doing it all correctly, (as far as I can remember). Sometimes it's less keen to do a global test than if you select the individual ecu....

Try engines/gearbox, engine, diesel, EDC15C2 4HX (or something like that anyway).

If that doesn't work, try anybody else's Pug, (or Cistern if you bothered to install their software too).
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I found that menu for the EDC15C2 and I tried all three options and none worked. I am going to try downgrading the firmware and software version as apparently that works better on a cloned device.

Also Jaspers coming to have another look at my timing belt tomorrow and I think his got a Peugeot Partner van I can try and connect too :D failing that its gonna have to go back to China

Thanks Doggy, the same to you. :D

My van is an Expert, hopefully it will connect, my airbag light is on, sadly, it doesn't have wires to the seats to check up on.

Got it working. Thought I'd post the solution incase others find this thread in the future.

Apparently, some chinese clones (I guess most that are brought around the same time as mine, feb 2012) work best with firmware version V4.2.4 loaded onto the interface.

DiagBox version 5.29 is the latest version that works with this firmware.

To get this working I:

Downloaded DiagBox 5.29 (included PP2000 and Lexia) - Find your own sources/etc
Download PSA Interface Checker (attached)

Follow the instructions to load firmware 4.2.4 (in the zip file) to the USB interface and then install/use DiagBox 5.29

Managed to read my engine ECU (nice pageful of faults, about the map sensor, now sorted!) and Johns Airbag ECU

Thanks again for reading my airbag ECU, I followed the wiring diagram you sent me and traced the fault to a loose connection in the housing around the steering column....all is well now :D

I have this problem now ... i bought this " superior " version that someone is selling on ebay and comes with diagbox for 7 6.01 and 5.20 to XP .

And guess what ?

MY ENGINE ECU DOES NOT REPLY ! ( which happens with other Lexia clones ) my car : 406 hdi 110 , may 2000

With any other code reader it works just fine ... just like rlees85 was experiencing ...

but i did let the diagbox 6.01 ( which was installed on XP ) to update the interface.

The guy tryed to install everything from fresh ... but this time diagbox 5.20. So when he started diagbox the interface was updated again ( so i assume this will reduce the version from what the other diagbox 6.01 updated, right ? )

Again, ecu did not reply, we searched a bit and when he went to bsi information, he said that it's missing it's manufacture and serial info and some other bit, so it's not coded to the engine ecu which leads to the ecu not replying ( this was he saying ). <- Is this really true ? because i can configure all options on bsi side ....

Then he went into he's service box login on the peugeot site, searching for something related to bsi key whatever , and then we found that my dam number doesn't match the dam that is on the door sticker ...

Anyway, is there anyone with the same problem ?

edit ; checked the firmware version on the interface and is the correct one 4.2.4 ... so no doubt i have a dodgy bsi ou a dodgy clone ...tomorrow i'll check in my friends 406 hdi same year ..
2000/May 406 Estate 2.0 HDI 110bhp DW10ATED now with 205k km & now with cruise control & now remaped @ 134bhp
