I wouldn't buy a car without seeing pictures first - especially on ebay - unless it was explicitly described as being in pristine condition with no flaws at all. That way if it's a knacker you'd have the ability to walk away as the car would be "significantly not as described". I still make sure the car's good with a test drive even if it's a normal auction I've won. If it's undrivable/dangerous/etc you can still safely walk away with your money in your pocket as long as it's SNAD or just not fit for purpose.

I've not had any problems with buying cars on ebay though.

i wouldnt buy a car off ebay without seeing it 1st.

that said. if you win a car on an ebay auction your not liable to purchase it if its not as described in the advert. and you can walk away without the seller saying a thing

never beleive a seller when they say its had this and that done. they will tell you what you wanna hear just to get a sale. (unless they have valid proof of these jobs take it as not done)

Don't put too much weight in what websites say about being a 90 or 110 - I know from experience when looking at 307s that most are wrong.

As far as Ebay goes, I've bought good cars & sh*te ones. The only thing that was consistent was that any seller that wanted a deposit of £100+ at the end of the auction was selling sh*te. Had a few good ones (including one that had no photos) which included my bargain 325tds & 2.2 C5 & the only 3 cars where the seller looked for a deposit at the end turned out to be sheds.

Nice one.

The whirring noise is probably the tyre, we don't tend to get many wheel bearing problems on here?

My mate bought a £15,000.00 BMW X5 on ebay and I thought he was crazy but then it could have been the very same machine sat on a dealers forecourt all dressed up for over £19,000.00 so who's the fool? :|

I don't understand the price of first-time cars like 8 year old Corsa's and Punto's etc. they are normally advertised for £3K or whatever but are complete shitters for the most part :?

I'd have thought they'd be two-a-penny what wiv insurance being so high :|

highinsurance, postcode areas, people want cars thats around group 6- 8
abig car like a 406 for eg , is hard to sell in my area , something like a Matiz or punto wouid sell in less than a day ,

down south , are treble the price of ours,
hence why people are traveling 100s of miles for a Bargain, ithink
