Hello chaps, I've been away for a bit as I got stuck into my xsara project. But things happen and a sudden house move dictated the quick sale of the project. I was gutted to see it go, but needs must and all that.
Anyway, move sorted, new garage and a new project.
Cough; saxo vts. Before you all start, they are a good little car. Its going to be track orientated. Its not one of those pointless ones, its the same as the 106gti with 118bhp and 900kg
Anyway, this necessitates a new daily driver. So I'll be on the look out for a cheap 406 oil burner. D8 or 9 not fussed, estate preferably so I can get plenty of track spares in the back.
I've loved my 406s in the passed and no other big car really impressed me like the pugs do value for money wise.

Re: Travis Bickle returns.
Welcome back Travis!
Hope alls well!
Sorry to hear about the Xsara, but lifes what happens isn't it? :s
Going to move house myself soon further out so will need another diesel, so might be looking a chep 406 myself soon.
Those wee Saxos, the same as the 106 GTi are wee go karts, loads of fun and that's why they got a good rep amongst young drivers. Unfortunately those that took it too far spoilt it for the rest (as always). Citroen never caught the same crowd with the C2, despite them rallying it.

Welcome back yuuung maaan
I hope everything is on a more stable footing now
Shame about the Ksara but, as they say here, the act of defecation happens unto itself
What's wrong with a sackso anyway? It's still PSA
Tiny car + modicum of power = mucho grins

Re: Travis Bickle returns.
I guess its just the reputation of them really lol, I've never driven one before and was quite shocked at the performance, it revs and revs and most of all its so much fun to chuck around, its super stable. I really wanted a gti but funds didn't allow a huge choice and I got this in the dea with the xsara.
Life is a lot more stable thanks:) and I'm much happier.
I'm happy with the vts, but its ready for a new engine and I've managed to find a fully rebuilt (head and sump not fitted yet) re conditioned engine for less than £500 which has had the following-
Crank checked / polished
All new mains / big ends
New rings
Crank, rods, pistons and flywheel balanced.
Head rebuilt with new stem seals and 16 new lifters.
It comes with new oil pump (not fitted). Full gasket set and head bolts.

Re: Travis Bickle returns.
The lad has all the receipts for all parts and the work done so I'm well happy. The good thing about these cars seems to be that the young lads spend a lot of money on them and either crash them fairly often, get bored too quick, or can't afford to insure them. Some of them on the owners forums are paying upwards of £3k its mental. Fully comp for me is £280 a year so again I'm happy with that.
As as its my daily driver at the moment its getting 36mpg which isn't bad for the low geared pocket rocket.
My old 406 would sit at 80mph at just under 3k rpm but the vts will do only 60mph at the same revs.
The gearboxes are a week point though.
I have some plans for it next year which will see the power morew than double, but I'm spending this yea getting it handling and stopping and the bodywork up to scratch. This is one little project I won't be selling off!
