Retro Toys
With the exception of Ebay, is there anywhere where I could sell them? Mums attic is full of my old toys and she wants everything out, but I can't just chuck it away or give it away for nothing. I've got original gen 1 Transformers toys still boxed, a couple of the 80's Mask ones, Ring Raiders still in the plastic, several Micro Machines playsets, some Thundercats stuff and a box of original He-Man figures! I've seen prices on Ebay for some which I think are a bit unrealistic.

Re: Retro Toys
What about a specialist auction house? I know they're not exactly antique but surely there's a market for 20/30 year old stuff?
I sold some original Dinky cars in their boxes through auctioneers and got £360.00 for 6 of them
best thing was I found them whilst renovating the house

Re: Retro Toys
To be honest, I think it is the wrong time to be selling things like that anyway. I know what you mean about the unrealistic Ebay prices & that is supported by the fact that many of those items don't sell, but with the economy the way it is at the moment, I don't think you'd be getting the best price for collectibles.
If you get chance, post up some pictures & have a search for a few specialist forums/communities where you might be able to post up some details. If you've got that one odd item that somebody is desperately searching for, you may come up trumps, but other than that I think you should hold on until the economy picks up a wee bit & there's a bit more disposable income floating around.
Hadn't heard of MASK in a long while, but funnily enough I found a MASK DVD in a specialist old video game shop while I was working in Welly. Bought it for the little man to watch & he loved it. Especially that dopey little scooter robot.

Re: Retro Toys
Good idea! I don't want to go to the hassle of listing a dozen items and them not selling. I did google toy auctions, shall have to look at that again later. But I shall look for forums too. Maybe someone on here may fancy them lol.

Re: Retro Toys
I remember Mask, the Pontiac that the wheels folded in and it could "fly".
An alternative might be a specialist shop, though you'll not get what they'll be selling it for (they have to make a profit too).
I know of a 'comic book' collectables (Star Wars etc.) and a die cast collectable shop locally.

Re: Retro Toys
Ebay is best selling place for retro stuff ithink,
sold a good bit of stuff on there a few year back, i sold a paddy bear for £220 ipicked it up years ago off a car boot sale £10 so igot a good investment,
Toys if there boxed, first place id take them is to a Hobby shop, if its seen as collectors stuff theyl snatch your hands off for it,

It was a Camaro & the best part of the flight was that the gullwing doors were the wings! Would never occur to a child of the target age how ridiculous that concept actually was...sirwiggum wrote:I remember Mask, the Pontiac that the wheels folded in and it could "fly".
If you do get pics of the stuff, post a few up here when you get chance. Can't promise that any of us would be potential buyers, but most of us would love to see the stuff for the sake of nostalgia.

I shall certainly try to put some up when I get back to mums, it'll be like going through an Aladdins cave! I've also got some action force ones, the UK version of GI Joe!

Re: Retro Toys
I was never into MASK and all that, I had Crash Dummies.
Basically dummy figures with buttons on their chest that made their arms and legs fall off.
And cars that you could push into walls and the bonnet would crumple, the wheels fall off and an airbag may or may not deploy. A bit like a Ford Orion.

Street where I lived was too busy for building go karts
The ones who did have karts were usually those pedal kellar ones.

Re: Retro Toys
I managed to get in the attic at the weekend and found about half of what I was after, gonna finish going through in a few weeks. I also found a bag of Matchbox Connectables (remember those?) and an old Tiger Electronics Afterburner tabletop game, memories!

Connectables.
They were the cars that snapped in 2 and you could connect them with others.
eg. the front of a limo and the rear of a lorry.
