We need a how to section?
Just thinking now, we have a few how to's but they're scattered all over the place.
How about a forum with lots of how to's all in it?
Bailes.

Re: We need a how to section?
I know what your saying but we just need a Forum where how to's are. Just howto's nothing else.
We should make the How To's structured in a specific way.
I.e.
What does the guide aim to do? Throttle Position Sensor Replacement
What models of 406 does it apply to? All HDi models
Parts required? New Throttle position sensor - Part Number 16 072 724 80 (Information about part??? I.e. all HDi's have the same TPS etc)
Tools required? 10mm Spanner and a brain...
Then onto the how to (Must include pictures etc?)
We need a nice little database of all the how to's.
Keep the coments open so people can add to the how to etc?

Most other forums charge for membership before you get to see anything

Re: We need a how to section?
It's true that gems of wisdom appear mixed up all over the place.
I think a good way of keeping track of it would be to link from the wiki to the relevant pages.
For example, I just started a throttle position sensor page -- feel free to correct it

Re: We need a how to section?
A how to place would be great, at the moment the search facility is tricky to use, its the same on most forums the search facility is usually useless, its usually better to ask and at least then other members remember the most relevant threads, which is good also because then the solutions can also be up to date as well as include the old way of doing it.
But some sort of organisation to keep how to's and guides easier to find would be good.

Ideally a section "<howto> related symptoms show up as ...... ".
Though are 406 numbers starting to dwindle? They've been out of production for a few years now, the good ones have been taxiied, some are starting to be considered runabouts at which point a £300 bill will be weighed in.

Re: We need a how to section?
My bro's just comtemplating a third MOT for his '98 1.9TD estate, which only cost him £800 with a year's tax to start with. It's the oldest car he's ever owned and he only sticks with it cos it'll run on veg oil. At the mo he's considering another couple of years, (unless he finally builds the shed in which to make bio and someone sells him a cheap 2.2).sirwiggum wrote:Though are 406 numbers starting to dwindle?
