Best thing to do with clios is:

rip the engine out and bin it,

replace with a nice volvo lump, you end up with a pocket Rocket

On the subject of the renault 5, get one of the mid engined versions (probably quite rare) and insert a modern 2.0 turbo renault engine.

Had one years ago, Renault 5 Gordini,
headgasket went on it so it went on the weigh bridge,

carnt get them for love nor money now,
imight look into the renault 5 mk1 this summer, for a project.

or Nissan micra, vs Almera turbo'd lump

Money no object has 2 choices.

A 3.0 HDi V6 possibly just lifted out of a 407 and put into the 406, its not completely impossible, its the electrical side of things that would cause the most issues.

but i have also had another idea after looking at a clio v6, get a 406 estate, rip out the rear seats and all that stuff, and do a mid engined V8 driving the rear wheels, the lexus v8 is a nice quiet engine but for this job noise is needed so a merc c65 engine or one of them new twin turbo v8's that bmw do.

If you started out with something like a D8 where you could rip out all the engine wiring and replace it with an aftermarket ecu it would be piss easy!

Or get a mechanical pump and do away with ECU's alltogether.
