Heated rear screen repair

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Heated rear screen repair

Post by Captain Jack »

Hello,

The rear screen demister grid thing has some grid-lines that don't heat up. I found the "breaks" on most of them, so I am wondering if I can repair these with some plain old electro-conductive paint? Any tricks to that?

I think that stuff works ok but you need to do it super-neat.

Best I think maybe to use PVC electrical tape to 'mask' where you want to paint and then leave it overnight, you'd have to be careful not let the tape 'lift' the contact wire as it might be brittle.

I'd think that normal household masking tape might 'bleed' at the edges and make a mess.

Good luck!

They sell the conductive paint in halfords & maplins, it does work very well.
Also good for repairs to ribbon cables where you can't solder!
