I gave my car a good beating today...

Post by Bailes1992 »

And my god it feels better for it

My car has lived all it's life in a hilly village in West Yorkshire, do I didn't think it would have any issues with coking up.
I changed the oil 3k ago and didn't notice much difference other than a few extra MPGees.

The match was on this saft, and as I don't really like watching sport I gathered the roads would be dead and headed up towards the heads of the valleys road.
I got onto the Rhigos and gave the car hell! I must have done 3-4miles at 3,000rpm+ and 50-100% throttle. The road was dead!
I couldn't belive the amount of crap comming out the back end! Take your foot on the throttle, stick it back onto full chat and I got a massive cloud of thick black smoke.
I managed to get the oil to over 130°c so I pulled over on the top, put the heaters on full to help it cool down and got out and took some pictures.

After the oil got back down to 90°c I carried on down the mountain using gears to maintain my speed and using no throttle to cool it right down.
I got onto the heads of the valleys road, stuck my foot down and good jesus  It picked up like a bloody rocket! For a 90bhp 406 it was picking up speed like I'd never seen it do before!

Anywho I got home, dropped the oil and put some fresh in and then had to pick my sister up. Again comming onto a dual carrigeway I stuck my foot down and it pulled like a bloody train :|

I really reccomend to you HDi boys, forget fancy additives, forget EGR cleaners, forget fancy oils. Just stick some two stroke in the diesel and take your car for a good beating and drop the oil afterwards.
The best service you can give it in my opinion!

I had a good day anyway

It is, moonstone hides all the dents and scratches
Drivers sides the best side anyway, it's mainly original paint.
The passengers side has had a crap respray.
The back end is covered in scratches and the front bonnet is rusting.

I want to get £2,000 together in an ISA to make sure I have enough to pay for my insurance this year, than I may get it resprayed. I'm still undecided
Just worried I'l spend £1,000 getting it resprayed and it will throw a HP pump or something

I think I may have ago at my bonnet when it brightens up abit. See how it goes. It already looks crap so I got nothing to loose!
The interior is mint now and mechanically it's bang on! Going in for track rod ends and wheel alignment on Tuesday. And as far as I know, thats it for things wrong with it

Bonnets are easy to spray mate,

easier to take it off and spray it tho ifind,

if the paints patchy, perhaps someones just sprayed it in places but hadnt Flattend the pain afterwards and applyd laquer,

Wings are the hardest parts to spray, you have to blow the paint into the door to blend it in or it looks 3 shades out,

easy enough tho,

took me 3 hours to do a wing on the citreon, waiting for paint to set this weather, slows the job down :(

Company down on the industrial estate comes out with colour charts to match your paint bang on. Haven't had an issue, so will go to him to get paint I think.

Yeah, colour chipping is the way iagree,

But paint fades/lightens with age,

so some pannels you have to blow the paint into another pannel so it all blends in if you know what imean,
Youl see what imean when you get the rattle cans out

We'll see, I'l do my bonnet and see how it comes up.

I do fancy getting a full respray done, some fully refurbed hoggars and have a MINT D9. But I don't know weather it's worth the few grand I'd probably end up spending?

With you on that one, not many of them about though. Doggy's looks great - when he cleans it!

Before you go down the Hoggar road, make sure that you have somewhere that can balance them properly. I honestly think that the Hoggars look nicer than my Nautilus wheels (especially if you get the coupe ones that give it a nice wide stance), but I've still got a fairly good set sat outside that I can't decide whether to risk using them or not. Had the ideal opportunity with the MOT last week & ended up paying for a new tyre on the Nautilus instead as they have a proper mounting face!

If you'd still be interested in mine when it hits the market, you may as well save a few pennies up as it may be sooner rather than later. Took a deFAPped C5 out this afternoon & although it didn't quite hit the mark for me - too much bodywork for a fussy git like me, but by no means a shed & an absolute bargain for what he wants - everytime I drive a 2.2 HDi it reminds me why I want one. Trouble is everytime I see another car for sale that I might like, when I see it in the flesh it highlights just how clean mine is.
