Chestnut Leather

Post by grasmere59 »

My 2003 Exec has the Chesnut leather interior which i know is not to everyones taste but i was wondering how rare this colour was in 406's,i've looked on ebay and autotrader at Exec's for sale but i've seen Black leather and Cream leather but not Chestnut,i was just curious as to how many were out there. :?:

Was only available on the late models, at the same time as they added the silver door handles & chrome trim under the grill, so 53 plate on. Really quite rare & well worth looking after. May not be to everyone's taste, but rarity still adds a wee bit of value on. Personally I think it is a nice interior colour. Not as dark as the standard black, but not as hard to keep clean as the cream. Another rare option was the grey leather. Never seen a 406 with them fitted, but did see a set for sale on Ebay a couple of years ago.

Yours is only the 2nd UK saloon or estate I've seen with it.

On the French site, someone had a 'Roland Garros' 406 with this interior in what was otherwise more or less a D9 2.2 SRi package.

I think it looks smart too. Most people seem to prefer black, which looks good, but doesn't age as well as cream, (in my opinion).

I try not to rub against the side bolster on the drivers seat when getting in and out to try and preserve it as it is in good nick at the moment with very minimal wear. The rest of the trim is near enough mint so i better look after it.I gave the car a good clean and service at the weekend and it looks a treat and everything on the car now works (for the moment) so i will be out with the camera to take a few pics when the weather brightens up.The Chestnut trim has really grown on me and i think it really goes well with the Diablo red.

I bought it for £1380 off ebay in Decenber with 1 years MOT and 10 months tax with 108k on the clock,it had not long had a solid flywheel and clutch, front springs, rear discs/pads/shoes.I've done some little jobs on it and put some tyres on it and it owes me about £1650 approx but i reckon it must be worth that now.I just want to get a good coat of polish on it now to really bring that Diablo red gleaming. :)

I haven't polished it yet(honest),i just washed it at the weekend using Auto Glym car shampoo and chammied it dry,i did use Auto Glym bumper care on the bumper ends as the rears are going a bit grey for some reason,i also used ArmorAll tyre foam on the tyres and under the arches and on the mudflaps and it smartens it up no end.

My mate put me onto the autoglym shampoo and bodywork conditioner and it really seems to give good results, the cheapest i found was a 2.5ltr bottle from Amazon, even delivered it was cheaper than Halfrauds.I've tried shed loads of polish on my BMW (black) and i keep coming back to autoglym polish. The bumper care stuff is a green gloop you just put on with a rag and buff up.I've got a lot of tar spots to get off the 406 before i set to and polish it.Whats the best stuff for getting tar off?
