Keys...

Post by pigboy306 »

Recently acquired D9 2l HDi W plated(2000) the car came with one remote key and the non remote key. On the remote one of the oblong switches was missing, so Ebay to the rescue 3 new switches arrived and one soldered in. I put the key in the ignition and car started and must have programmed remote? as it worked after. There are two buttons on the key one large and one small. The small one seems to do nothing, is it meant to?

In the owners manual it shows the key as having one button only.

I want to get another remote key what one do i go for infra red or RF?? I'm confused...

My old 406 LX saloon (1999, very early D9) had an R/F keyfob. I haven't actually seen a 406 with Infra-Red keyfob. My old Mk.1 Clios both had IR-based fobs.

On my old saloon, the large rubber button was for locking and unlocking the doors, whereas the smaller hard-plastic button was for dead-bolting the doors once they were closed and locked.

The small button deadlocks the car. You have to lock it with the primary button & press the small one straight after.

hmmm i don't have an immobiliser chip for a new key. Car came with one remote key and one normal key ... do you know where I can get a blank immobiliser key?

ok found immobiliser chip for 406 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390395637962? ... 975wt_1163 just need to work out to swap the blades over? and got to be sure on the type of key mine has oblong buttons on the circuit board most seem to be square.
