Hi All
I've just purchased a 2001(y reg) 406 110 Hdi estate. I usually do all my own work on cars but Im new to European cars (always owned Jap) so I have a few quick Q's.
How much oil is needed for an oil/filter change?
What is BSI?
What is a pp2000?
What is a galleto?
Regards
Ollie

Hi Ollie & welcome to the forum.
Some answers:
5 litres, (it's probably 4.5 as you always have a little bit left), 10W40 semi-synthetic's best.
BSI transaltes to body systems interface - computer system that runs everything except from the powertrain.
pp2000 - Peugeot Planet 2000 - the dealer's diagnostic / configuration software, (some of us have chinese clones).
Galletto 1260 - flash programmer, used for reading/writing engine ecu files.

Thanks Doggy,
Another one for you D8/D9 I'm assuming are model versions. How do I know which my car is?
Thanks

Re: Hi, New 406 Hdi Estate Owner
It's a 2001 car so it'll definitely be a D9.
D8 was Peugeot's internal codename for the Mk. 1 406, and D9 was their codename for the Mk. 2 (facelifted) version. The facelift occurred in 1999, so cars made any time in 1999 (T-reg or V-reg) could be either.
Another landmark year was 2001, when they changed the wiring in the car from partially-multiplexed to fully-multiplexed; this was done with the introduction of the COM2000 control stalk system. Your car is definitely a D9, but it could be part-mux or fully-mux. Don't you just love Peugeot!
Best way to tell the difference between D8 and D9 is by looking at the front of the car. The D8 has a slatted grille on either side of the Peugeot lion badge, whereas the D9 has wider headlights and a honeycomb mesh.
The Coupe also has D8 and D9 versions, but the difference is a lot more subtle, and it's not easy to tell at a glance.

Re: Hi, New 406 Hdi Estate Owner
D8 = original version, (slatted grille), 1995 - 99
D9 = 'mk2', (honeycomb grille, like yours), 99-04
Ooops!
Graeme beat me to it!
