Oooops, petrol in a Hdi

Post by D9406 »

My lad has recently bought a 90 HDi estate, looking through a pile of receipts today I came across one for an insurance job. Seems someone had put petrol in instead of diesel. Bill total £2226.46.
The whole fuel system has been replaced top to toe. Bet you dont do it twice.
1999 406 HDi 2.0 110 GTX Estate. 48k when bought, now 150K. Second owner, I've covered over 100k in it.
Clutch changed @110k, bottom pulley changed, cam belt changed, EGR blanked, cat removed, front springs changed.

Insurance job? :o

I thought if you miss-fuelled you're on your own..........

That job used to be the recommended fix, replace the full monty - pumps, injectors, the lot. Now though it's a case of drain, new filter and refill and hope for the best :supafrisk:

Even with the scandalous and totally unjustifiable robbin' theivin' amount charged for diesel as opposed to petrol, it's not going to be economical, puggy

My Dad put Diesel into his Ford Onion 1.6EFi years ago, instead of stopping and sorting it out properly he continued to plod the thing around for another hour or so

It recovered, I even bought it off him a few years later, but I'm not sure it really helped the injectors/valve seats :|
