what's this?

Post by m4gic »

I have just replaced my injector with a secondhand one from ade and fuel is shooting out of this hole. What have I done wrong.

Don't think you've done anything wrong, think you've got a dodgy injector.

In fairness to Ade, I guess this must happen occasionally. Give him a call, he's a decent guy, be surprised if he doesn't offer to replace it.

Both the one I pulled and the replacement have this hole, so I'm guessing it should be there. I was wondering if these injectors are easy enough to dismantle as I've the old one still. Or just to contact ade and try and get a replacement sent.

The hole is no doubt there to help identify the internal problem causing the leak, (bit like the overflow pipe from the header tank in your loft).

Talk to Ade first, he will have sold you what he believe is a working spare, in good faith. Give him the chance to sort it out.

Statements like this make me wonder how many clocks lozz has dismantled and unsuccessfully reassembled over the years :)

Ok figured it out. When attempting to pull it out to return it to ade I'd noticed the nut just above the hole seemed loose. On a closer look at my old injector the thread goes past this hole. What was happening was the fuel under pressure was passing up the thread and out this hole.

I also found a novel way to "eject" an injector. But it was not planned and was definitely case of do not try this at home.
