Now then.... Dilemma for me

Post by Foxy »

Ive havent been on for a good few weeks due to my dad sadly passing away last month so Ive had other things to think about.
But now I have a large wedge to spend on a car and Ive decided on a Seat Leon Cupra.

But the thing is, do I keep the 406? Figured Ill be able to drive it on my insurance anyway and Ill tax it 6 months of the year (summer) and SORN it for the winter months. Just not sure Id want it. Escpecially if I cant get a garage/lockup to store it in.

What do I do....? Sell/px/keep?

Gift it to me... ;)

Sad news about your Father. I know how you must feel mate.
I would take a look at seeing how much it would cost to keep both the motors.

The Cupra is nice, but not nearly as reliable as the 406. Despite being brand new. But then, that might be down to how the twats around here gun them around.

Though one thing I know for sure, my mates 10 year old 2.0i Vtec Prelude kicked the ass out of a Cupra. a 9 Grand cupra thwarted by a 900 quid Prelude... he was gutted! muahahahaha.

If it were me, I'd stuff the Cupra and get a 407 Coupe or a nice late edition 406 Coupe. Both look so much more swish than the Cupra.

It wont be new, will be a 2000/1 model.

I remember having a joust with one in my 306 GTi6 and it was neck and neck. Plus a £300 remap means 220+bhp. Finding one will be the hard part.
Thought about a 406 HDi 110 and keeping the turbo beast but 2 406s is a bit much.

Meh, I'd still go for a 406 coupe over a Cupra, anyday.

Dude sory to hear about your loss ! !

If you get a later one, it will be 220hp as standard and a remap takes it upto 275hp I know because my mate is/was getting one until he drove the megan 225 trophy !

Hello, sorry to hear about your dad...

I was looking atthe Leon Cupra, they are supposed to be reliable, they share same parts as golf...

Have you considered the following (dunno what your budget is so guessing)

BMW 8 series
BMW M3
Old M5
MG ZT+ (fully loaded)
93-94 320 SL
Prelude
Skyline
Sunny GTIR?
or, a 6 series BMW or old Beyer convertible

Don't do it...... on the rollers they only pull 150hp odd at the wheels ! a mate brought one and was dissapointed ! another mate has a 182 and he's not that impressed, been back to dealers too many times, plus they aint safe round corners when you throw them hard !

Stick with the idea of the Leon! much better idea, ad sell me your 6 lol

I might well sell the 406, undecided yet, if I get a more 'sensible' car I shall keep it. But if I get a Leon then Ill most certainly sell.

Foxy as you the are owner of both cars you need to insure both cars yourself, you cant insure 1 fully comp and be insured on the other 3rd party as the 2nd car must be insured in the owners name.

Why sell ur 406? I'm lost to think why you would want to after spending so much on it and time. Spend the £4.5k you have on making ur 406 the best it can poss be rather than spend it on some sh*t holes that has been mentioned so far. Stick a 3.0 engine in and mod it, it will be quicker then anything you have said so far.
