Hi All
I have a 2003 406 saloon and the COMM2000 unit is becoming tired. The horn button has to be pushed very hard and for a good couple of seconds before it will sound, and the indicator stalk has recently started dropping after a right turn.
I have looked for the part and it is quite expensive. Does anyone know if it is possible to get my part refurbed? Does anyone actually do this?
Thanks

Re: COMM2000
I had this on my 2002 Coupe when I first got it. Turned out to be the wiring behind the airbag pad had become pinched and frayed, so the connection was very poor. The garage who discovered the fault fixed it for not much money, so I was happy with that.ads2k9 wrote:The horn button has to be pushed very hard and for a good couple of seconds before it will sound
As for the indicator stalks, I don't know if anyone does refurb these professionally, but I agree that a new COM2000 unit is quite an expensive item. You could try this used one:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250996349625
£60 plus postage is good. Just make sure that the seller will refund you if it turns out to have the same fault (they do say they have a "no quibble money-back guarantee" so that's reassuring. I note this COM2000 unit doesn't have a cruise control stalk; if your car has cruise control, you'll need to take your stalk off your existing COM2000 unit and move it to this replacement one.

Re: COMM2000
Great, so if my COM2000 goes (my car has the ESP feature) then I should think about selling a kidney
No idea if the original poster's car has ESP or not, and no idea if the COM2000 shown on the eBay link I posted was from a car with ESP or not. I guess the Peugeot part number would be needed from both cars.

Hi all
well, thanks for the advise and the link. i have to admit, i have no idea if i have ESP on my 406. I know i have ABS, never seen anything to do with ESP. Is there anyway i can check?
Also, does anyone know any links to some kind of guide to changing one of there?

Re: COMM2000
There should be a switch to turn off the ESP somewhere and then the ESP warning light will illuminate on the dash,my 406 Exec Estate has ESP and thats how i know it's got it,also when you switch the ignition the light should illuminate and go off when the engine starts,it's an orange triangle shaped symbol with a skidding car in it.

Re: COMM2000
You need to find out which you have, no rear wiper is a fairly safe bet (I don't think any D9 saloon got one) but the esp is more tricky. You could paste your vin on here and we could tell you.
I had a quick Google, you can get reconditioned ones but I've no idea if they're any good: http://www.peugeotpartsforsale.com/stor ... ja4350a7g2
Or there's this one: http://www.neatcarparts.co.uk/406-indic ... -149-p.asp which actually seems cheap (comparability
) Keep Googling, you might find better...
But you really need to make sure you know which one you have before hitting any buttons...
How to change one: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7617&hilit=+steering+wheel+removal
Hmm, I'm sure that was in the Knowledge Base once...it is now anyway
Or there's always the sponge... viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11868&p=104964&hili ... or#p104957
