Trip computer gone mad

Post by scotty73 »

Or has it? Filled my car up today so reset the trip and on the 3 mile journey back at one point it said 80.7mpg... ok it's not a hilly streatch of road so in some places no throttle was needed for a while.... coming into my village it crept back down to just under 60mpg.... does anyone elses have a funny 5 minutes like that?

Of course, when the engine is above 1300rpm and no throttle is required the engine will just cut-off and use no fuel, so it's very likely that on short stretches of road, plain or slightly going down, the fuel consumption may result to be extremely good. For example in my usual 200km motorway run the first 8kms are very easy on the throttle, I easily archive 80 mpg and "1999km to empty" (which is the max it'll show).
