Dont think I could say 15-20mph worth of power off the top speed can be put down to age on a 48k engine... think I just need to keep tinkering until its right... (check sock, exhaust, then look at EGR etc)... im not on a mission to do 150mph or whatever, but it would be nice to have the extra power/torque doing normal speeds as the speed test was just a way to proove its down on power.. if you know what I mean.

but yeah id agree if your going to do those speeds, make sure you got good rubber ;)

I agree a healthy example shouldn't be down on power to that extent.
A top speed of 110 would equate to a maximum power output in the region of 90-100 bhp.

My old 1.8 was definitely capable of doing more than 115 MPH down the private road I tested it on.

Towing at more than 60 MPH is daft. The number of times I've been driving at a fairly steady 70 MPH along a dual-carriageway and I've come to overtake a guy pulling a caravan or a trailer doing 65 - 70 MPH, and the caravan has been skipping from side to side (even on a straight flat bit of road!) is unbelievable.

I normally stick to 55mph towing i always did in my xsra but the first time i went in the Peugeot back in January i got a bit carried away to be honest... Last time a few weeks back i stuck to about 60mph but had people overtaking me doing much more... turns out they were going to the same place too and i turned up as they were booking in which was quite funny.
