Re: central locking
yes it is meant to have remote central locking. i think all 406s did. maybe the very early D8 ones didnt (1997 models)
but a d9 lx should definately have remote locking as standard.
were to buy ?? peugeot dealers probably . prob cost about £130 for new year and re-programing

Re: central locking
Absolutely confirmed - my old D9 LX saloon was V-reg, first registered in November 1999, and as such was one of the very early D9s (the very earliest being T-reg, I believe; I've seen D8s and D9s both T-registered). It had remote central locking.Gary406 wrote:but a d9 lx should definately have remote locking as standard
I reckon the remote plip key has just been lost (or destroyed) by a previous owner, and not replaced. As Gary said, take it to the dealers and ask them what they think it'll cost to get a new remote central locking key.
At the very least you'll want a backup key in case something happens to your only key.

Re: central locking
The dealer price for a new key will be ridiculous, I'd be inclined to hunt round the breakers for an old key and fit a new blade. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to programme the key to your car assuming the micro switches on the replacement key are all ok.
There might be a forum member breaking a D9 willing to send you a plip key for a few quid.
You could test the theory by putting your standard key in the ignition and holding the replacement key next to it while synchronising the plip. I'm sure there is a how to on here for synching keys. If it doesn't work it's only cost a few quid.
