Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

306 didn't have Com2000 at all I don't think? Ever?
the older models, no, just like older 406, but when com2000 where introduced they did, but i think you are a bit right there, since 306 was stopped just when 307 arrived and it was on 2001/2002 just when com2000 was introduced.

None of the 306s have Comm2000. But in support of what Sam is saying, the Pug specialist across town did tell me a while ago that fitting cruise control to a full multiplex 110 406 would be a simple plug in the stalk & turn it on with the PP2000. Whether the same would be true of a 90, I don't know as we were specifically talking about my car at the time, but I would be interested to know if all multiplex PSA cars are ready to go as I was looking at a nice Berlingo earlier.

I know the 206 is com2000 but theres no wires back to the ECU from it to support cruise control.

That would knock out the possibility of fitting it to a Berlingo/Partner then. Ah well, think it's sold now anyway.

Why would it need any - doesn't it use the same comms link as the other stalks?

I'm only going by what I read on the 206 Forum.
I don't 100% understand how Com2000 works.

Care to enlighten me?

It's multihex innit :cheesy: It takes all those lovely signals from the wiper, lighting etc. stalks, turns it into a stream of 1s and 0s and sends it off to the BSI which sends signals off to the appropriate kit. Hopefully. The cruise stalk works this way but the engine ecu requires other inputs, from the brake and clutch switches, as well as sensors on the engine of course.

I'm still trying to find all the stuff about the switch wiring but I've no idea what I searched with

Berlingo you say, I have Citroen SEDRE too 8) Hold on while it warms up (bluddy takes ages to load :frown: )

Multiplexing:
taking all the signals of frequency T (for instance one bit of information every T/1000 seconds) usually transmitted through multiple wires and transmit them using less wires (in theory, 1) with higher frequency signaling. An internal clock sets the times: X milliseconds for the BSI, X for com 2000, 2*X for radio...
In the same T period you previously had N wires transmitting one bit now you have a single wire transmitting N*T bits.

That's the principle.
