Hope you have a bit of luck finding that tool. I'm hoping the new bearing i've put in will last a bit longer than a year/ 12,000miles. Don't fancy having to take the hub off again. Had good weather and luckily off work for 10days so no rush to get it done...

I've changed 2 front bearings on my car now, a lot of heat and a big hammer has the job done in around an hour, but it really takes it out of you. I changed the nearside about 2 weeks ago because of a droning from 25mph upwards, only to find the noise was still there. I then discovered that the tracking on that side was slightly out causing the tyre to wear in a way that causes the outside edge to develop "sharp" edges on the tread on the shoulder, a quick adjustment and the noise is almost gone.

Never heard of such a tool.

My mates will lend me a press, wouldn't cost anything.

BTW, the last wheel bearing I tried to press out (A Corsa) ended up with a new hub, the hub had got battered by hitting the kerb and twisted the hole where the wheel bearing fitted....sometimes it can get really very messy trying to press bearings out and in, it isn't always straightforward.

I done the bearing in my Focus myself.
I heated the hub up with a blowtorch and put the bearing in the freezer and then pressed the bearing in with lots of grease and a vice in the garage.
