brake lights stopped[get it] working.
about 50 yards from home tonight got the blue flashing lights pulled over and switched the four ways on to find they not working!
got out the car to talk to pc plod who informed me that he had been behind me for about a mile and only my central brake light was working he was okay about it and told me to get it fixed,so any one any ideas before i start dont suppose it can be the fuse unless the center light is on a diffrent circut, cant be the brake switch on the pedal as the center light is working so might be the bulbs but it seams strange that two have gone at the same time.dont suppose it can be tied into the 4 ways can it?

It could be the bulbs, you might have been driving about with just one side going & now that one's gone. Check the bulbs first before you start pulling the car to bits. If your indicators work suspect the switch, I can't imagine how the two problems could be related but I suppose nothing's impossible.

Oh bugger
Pug don't do colour codes, the wires all have codes on them - I've only got D9 diagrams but I'd think they're the same - 2100 & 2101B

That's a point, especially if they used Scotch locks and they've rottedlozz wrote:Have you got atow bar on ?

Re: brake lights stopped[get it] working.
IIRC the 2 sides are separately fused, with the high level light tapped off one of the others, so could be bulb one side, fuse t'other, but I agrre with Steve, bulbs are most likely.steve_earwig wrote:It could be the bulbs, you might have been driving about with just one side going & now that one's gone. Have alook at the wiring mate,
where the tow bar wiring gets it feed off the brake lights ,
there normaly done with scotch locks, worth a check, couid be something simple as a broken earth,
Re: brake lights stopped[get it] working.
right one step forward two steps back.
traced the wire back to the scotch locked towbar wiring[green cable no6] removed plug from light fixing and with my test lamp found no power at the light fixing, but while poking around with the test lamp manged to short something and now have no power at cable 6
but the cental brake light still works!
so does anyone no what fuse this is on? as they all look good.
good news found the 4 way flasher fault but them on while trying to find the fuse and found that the plug on the back of the fuse box was lose so thats one thing fixed

Re: brake lights stopped[get it] working.
Good news about the hazards
Err, what's cable 6? Is that a 12 volt supply to the tow socket?
There are some fuse layouts here - http://www.peugeotlogic.com/#fuses but it probably won't help if this is on the socket

Re: brake lights stopped[get it] working.
sorry maybe i should have said when you remove the wire socket on the back of the light unit they have numbers on and the green wire from the loom which was live before i started messing goes into postion 6.steve_earwig wrote:Good news about the hazards![]()

so nothing to do with the trailer socket

Re: brake lights stopped[get it] working.
Ah, ok
The fuse diagrams won't be a hell of a lot of use, unless whoever fitted the socket used the right fuse, othrwise it could be something in-line somewhere...
What I was thinking was where the wires for the socket have been spliced into the existing wiring, the scotchlocks strip a bit of insulation off, so if they get wet the wires can rot out.
I can't imagine Pug (hold on, this is Pug so perhaps I can
) running two wires all the way to the back, there must be a junction point somewhere where the three wires join. YOur mission, should you choose to accept it...

Re: brake lights stopped[get it] working.
steve
its nothing to do with the trailer socket [unless the scotch lock is causing proplems]
its the green wire from the 406 that goes into the back of the light unit that used to be live but now isnt so ive got to get the power back here then its time to remove the scotch lock.

Re: brake lights stopped[get it] working.
Hold on, I was reading that as the trailer socket as there shouldn't be any lives going into the lights (unless the lights are on...)

Re: brake lights stopped[get it] working.
sorry steve my fault againsteve_earwig wrote:Hold on, I was reading that as the trailer socket as there shouldn't be any lives going into the lights (unless the lights are on...)
iwas testing the brake lights and had jammed the brake pedal down so the brake lights should have been working when doing this the center brake light works.when i checked the rear lights it appears that the green cable that goes to number 6 on the back of the light unit is also live this is the cable that has a scotch lock to the trailer socket.even though this cable is now dead the center light still works,so if i cant find the fault i will piggy back a feed of this but would like to sort it right.hope this clears it up and thanks for your intrest.
do you know what fuse is for the brake lights?
