'01 Estate Plastic Trim

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

'01 Estate Plastic Trim

Post by seanoconnell87 »

Hey Guys - been ringing around to scrappies and can't seem to locate a piece of exterior trim I'm missing. Anyone any suggestions on where to find it? It's the black plastic trim right below the GTX badge.

Very rough pic:

Saloon and estate are the same part, although they come with chrome or without. Bluddy hell, £3.54? That can't be right

A year ago, i needed one for my estate, and it was 3.75 EUR in main dealer. Very cheap. I wonder how much is the longer ones or the front and rear bumper ones ..

The long one on the bottom edge of the tailgate was about £22 when I changed mine a few years back, but the back bumper trims are only available as a set (for the estate anyway, I only wanted one corner  ) and they were something like £130...

Think it was over £80 when I looked to replace mine last year. Door ones are at least £30 each now.

Thanks, but in Ireland so it's a no go unfortunately. Need to drop into dealer again with my serial number as they didn't have my reg on the system, but out of the parts it could have been it'll be between €5 and €8 so win win all round! Probably would have cost similar in scrap yard I'd imagine. Might even go all out and get a new GTX badge 8)

woot ? for plastic they charge that ? Robbery...

Anyway i might paint them with colour code of my car ... Because the silver trim is sh*t quality, in some years they get all " toasted " and the shiny look disappears...i love the vw passat chrome trim :(

I'm thinking about having mine colour coded but having the chrome bit done in gloss black then to break it up abit.

Then have the shiny strips in Black.
