Engine Vibration

Post by Senna007 »

Hi
Im new to the forum and am after a little info.
I have recently brought a Peugeot 406 HDI Rapier (90)
I have noticed that when I pull up and the engine revs drop to around 1000-850 rpm i get a small vibration.
I have seen all the posts on the DMF and was wondering if this model had it fitted?
The clutch itself pulls fine and has little judder.
It is an X registered vehicle
Hope you can help

Hi senna,
Im fairly sure your car does not have a dmf. Infact as far as I know none of the 90hp's have them. First thing id be suspicious of is the maf sensor, try unplugging the electrical connection to it and see if the symptoms go away. If they do dissappear then you probably need to just clean it with some carb cleaner or possibly just buy a new one. If unplugging the maf doesnt solve the issue then id begin by looking for small leaks in the pipes hoses that lead to the intake manifold as even a small leak in one of these can cause exactly the symptoms you describe.

Hi & welcome to the forum. 8)

Worth checking the engine mounts too, particularly the bottom one.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
