funny clicking noise

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

funny clicking noise

Post by omega »

well ive sorted my brakelights and now have another strange electric fault.
switch indicators on all lights flash as they should.switch them off or self cancel and they go off as they should.
but about 30 seconds later theres a loud clicking noise comeing from the dash aera which sounds like the indicatores are flashing,no lights come on the dash and the indicatores dont flash outside.this clicking noise can stay on for about 30 seconds or sometimes only 5 seconds.the only thing i can think of is the flasher relay but cant find it so
anyone know where it is on a d8[its not under the fuse box as far as i can tell]
or any other ideas?

Nope, D8's have the problem with the combustable indicator stalk

D9's just bounce back all the time.

well removed the indicator stalk and had a good look and couldnt see any sign of arking and had a good sniff and couldnt smell any signs of burning so cleaned everything up and gave it a squirt of maintance spray and but it all back together and everything is working fine.
