Didn't know it was an estate mjb, if it's any use I have to get the middle section done on the HDi for the MOT and have been quoted £80.00 for the shitiest one upto £110.00 for a decent make/fit I suppose if you allow £60.00 for the back box then your about bang on?
Now, what about that Oil change chappy? you've had plenty of time over the xmas break haven't you

Why are Kwik-Fit guys completely incapable of pressing a button on a key? I was sitting in there for ages just laughing at the indicators flashing away. I actually told the guy exactly how to start the car TWICE and he was still unable to do it himself. Hahaha at least I guess I'm more confident about the car not getting stolen
It's soooo nice to have the new exhaust on though. Amazing how quiet it is now. Unfortunately the new tailpipe has a chrome oval on it, it sits about 6" below the bumper (as opposed to poking through the cut-out), it sticks out about 3" from the back of the bumper, and the worst part is the oval bit is twisted by about 45 degrees so all in all it looks well naff

Sounds like a Coupe' system, can't say I've ever seen a saloon with an oval tailpipe?
The Petrol's are normally straight out like a pea shooter.
Not being funny like, but for the cost I might have something to them that your not happy with the fit and finish, I would consider returning to them and saying that you've been looking at it at home and your not happy with what they've done and that it must be a different system to what it should be.
Afterall, the Sales of Goods and Services Act states that the goods, or service, must be 'of reasonable quality' and 'fit for the purpose' I don't know about you but an exhaust designed for another model is not 'fit for the purpose'.
Have a think and let me know what you err, think?

Errrm no... Take it back! Apart from it looking naff, if it's too low and too long you'll end up dragging it on the floor. I wouldn't accept that.mjb wrote:Unfortunately the new tailpipe has a chrome oval on it, it sits about 6" below the bumper (as opposed to poking through the cut-out), it sticks out about 3" from the back of the bumper, and the worst part is the oval bit is twisted by about 45 degrees so all in all it looks well naff
I was quoted over £300 for a mild steel 'zorst for my estate and the likes of Kwik fit "didn't even have it listed". In the end I got a custom built stainless one for £350 with a lifetime guarentee. Much better

Aye. Think I'll be popping back some time soon as long as I can get back from work in time.
As for the oil, national tyres are doing filter, change and flush for £15 in December. Hope they're open for a bit tomorrow!
So what's wrong with the '6 now?
Oil change needed
Need to buy new brake shoes
Need new rear tyres.
Need to replace rear discs (and shoes + pads)
Need MOT (Feb!)
---
New bonnet wanted
Cigarette lighter socket wanted (broken, keeps shorting)
Need to find some windscreen wipers that work at over 50mph
One injector is ticking quite loudly and getting worse. Dunno what to do about that.
Seat heaters broken somehow.
Brake fluid could do with renewal
Probably should change the pollen and fuel filters
Need some new mats soon. Going to be a Tesco jobbie - Stealers want £60 for a set!!!
Should really sort out the rev counter light. Bad connection between the silly plastic PCB and the bulb holder
Why is car ownership so bloody expensive?
At least I can't see anything major coming up soon

Longlife Exhausts, I used the one in Cardiff but they're national.
Longlife
Really nice job too!
(well when I say national that doesn't appear to include Scotland
! Looks like the nearest one to you is in Leeds
, sorry!)

I replaced the Mid-Section and Back Box on my HDI 110 and Peugeot in Rochester Kent wanted £150 for the Back Box and £100 for the Mid Section. That was back in August, in the end I got bosal parts from http://www.leisureshack.co.uk and it cost me £150 the pair including delivery. I've done 10k miles since without any problems it also looked almost identical to the original pug part I took off!

Its always the same.
Is there any wonder us Scots get pissed by the North/South devide!

Got back from work in time today to get to Kwik-Fit and they were like "so what's wrong with it?" despite the fact yesterday it started farting like its driver (I like curry ;) )
He wanted to heat up and twist the tailpipe right, I told him to get bent and order me a proper box, which he managed to find today for some reason. Shock horror it's actually cheaper! Thieving wankers.
Couldn't see or hear anything from the mid section/cat joint with the car idling though. It's definitely very very noisey at low revs though especially when the throttle's pumped, much more so than it was a couple of days ago (after the new pipe!). Heck the guy took it for a couple of laps around the block - and among the rush hour traffic I could tell when he was about to come round the corner it's that loud! The bastards are going to make this right even if I have to take 'em to court over it!
