sometimes you miss the simple things

for the past couple of weeks ive had some small electrical proplems with my car which i have now sorted,but meanwhile i noticed the car didnt seam as fast as it should be but as long as it was running i could manage well today i had some time so started to have a look opened the bonnet and nothing looked loose or out of place.the air filter looked a bit grubby but not bad but decided to replace and as it was due a oil and filter change did that as well.took it for a drive and it was the same as before so decided to take the wheels off and check if the brakes where binding,after about a hour i could find nothing wrong so took it for another drive and still the fault was still there.then i had a brain wave as my brake lights had been playing up i had checked the brake switch on the pedal and thought that might be jamming the pedal where i had messed with it.
but no it was worse than that
i had found the fault



when i had been checking the switch the floor mat had slipped under the throttle pedal so it didnt go down all the way
please feel free to take the mick!!

Not to worry, a swift service & a check on the brakes can't be too much of a mistake

I had the same thing was so when the Mrs said she had fixed the car she doesnt drive and knows naff all about cars

Driving home from work yesterday in the rain I noticed my indicator didn't self cancel.
Flicked the stalk but it still kept flashing right,
Pushed the stalk all the way up, then down, still flashing right,
Flicked the hazards on and off, still flashing right,
Jiggled the stalk wildly whilst swearing at it, still flashing right !!!!

After 3 miles there was a sudden realisation of what I was doing.......
Went slightly red.......
Stopped fiddling with WIPER STALK with my right hand and cancelled indicator with left hand


It happens to all of us

BTW I did the floor mat thing as well, last summer driving up Dinas Mawdway in North Wales it wouldn't rev passed 2,500RPM, I spent 20 minutes swearing at my blown turbo until I realised what was happening!

I do that all the time with the other half's Hyundai Getz.
It has the lights and wipers the wrong way round, so I'm at a roundabout, wipers going like mad, people must think I'm a git for not using indicators!

At least you have the 'it's not my car excuse, I've been driving a 406 for 18 months now, even when I drive the girlfriends car it's a 307 qith the same layout as mine

I still get caught out occasionally when someone carves you up and you aggressively press where the horn on the Xsara used to be.

When several days later I discover the sodding Auto lights have TURNED THEMSELVES ON AGAIN, FFS, I do what you lot do & blame French electrics.
