Re: WANTED: 1.9TD or 2.1TD
Does anyone know if the following share the same engine and pump as the 406 1.9td:
(So I can use veg oil to run in it)
Peugeot 306
Peugeot 806
Peugeot Expert
Renault laguna
Or can you add to the list to include which cars shared the same engine and pump so I can look at these as an alternative?
Cheers

Re: WANTED: 1.9TD or 2.1TD
2 last questions - sorry
1) The 206 1.9 diesel - does this use a bosch pump?
2) There are some Peugeot 1.9 diesels which simply state D not TD. Are there two varaitions of the diesel engine, one with a turbo and one without?
Does it matter if its a TD or just a D when using Veg Oil?
Sorry for the questions,
I ask the sellers which engine code and pump there car have and they simply say they do not know.
So i am trying to get a good picture myself.
Cheers.

Re: WANTED: 1.9TD or 2.1TD
were are u mate might have a 406 for you if local
Re: WANTED: 1.9TD or 2.1TD
There were early non turbo versions of the XUD engine which I believe were about 70-75 BHP, some very early 406's had it but I don't think they were released in the uk. It shouldn't matter for running veg whether it's turbo charged or not it's all down to the bosch fuel pump and injectors.
A good 406 1.9td will be surprisingly quick, mine is quicker than the girlfriends 307 110 HDI but my old one which I suspect had been taxi'd was so slow it was squeaky bum time pulling away at junctions.
By all accounts the 306 1.9td is very good, A bit small for my frame but quick and economical as it has less weight to pull around, saying that I get 36 MPG in town traffic running 2/3 veg 1/3 derv which I'm very pleased with for a 16 year old spacious family saloon.
Using the veg/derv mix I use it works out at about £5.20 a gallon instead of £6.50 and rising, £4.50 a gallon for straight veg in tesco at the moment but a cold engine does hunt a bit on straight veg so I like to mix it with derv.
I save about £20 a month on the mileage I do which covers my road tax for the year
As said on here the 2.1 can be converted to run veg but tbh a good 1.9td will be quick enough and you don't need to mess with it to run veg. If needed you can tinker with the turbo and up the fueling but then you lose the economy. If you can find enough waste oil and do your own filtering I guess that doesn't matter tho.

Re: WANTED: 1.9TD or 2.1TD
ZXs were a good car for an XUD, the TD in them were a flying machine. non-turbo was economical and basic, but slow.
Re: WANTED: 1.9TD or 2.1TD
Cheers for the advice guys.
I have managed to get hold of two Peugeot 306 1.9 TD hatchbacks.
One which I will keep, the other is up for sale if anyone is interested.
I will put the full details in another post under cars for sale this weekend.
