Maybe you could pull the pipes off where the go through the bulkhead and join them together with a bit of half inch copper pipe - I don't think it would be advisable to block them off. You'll also need to bleed it of course...

Yeah, Steve is correct, join with copper pipe, but didn't you try sealer directly into the heater matrix?

ive used apeice of metal Broom handle inthe past,
not good but its useable when theres no copper pipe handy,

Only takes 5 mins or so to by pass it, take the two heater pipes off where they go into the bulk head,
dont cut the pipes,

put ajubilee clip on both ends of the pipes , insert the metal pipe so both pipes are joined but free flowing and then tighten the jubilee clips,
but as mentioned above Make sure you get all the airlocks out, if you dont it can cause problems, worst case Headgasket failure

I have done this as temp solution having the same problem .bled all system car running at just under 80 , and rose to 90 when stuck on m6 but normalised once moving again fitted new matrix , but still havingleakage (very minor ) but having refitted after using sealant as advised on here that may well be inthe past
Just got the damn blower to fix/replace to get some airflow before we get into "hot" weather territory
will update as and when

I used a 3" piece of 22mm copper , talked to plumber on a building site for mine !
