D8 Hydraulic Clutches

Post by jonsowman »

Hi all,

Does anyone know if the hydraulic clutch assembly (master & slave cylinders + pipework +header tank) fitted to the 3.0 V6 D8 was the same as that fitted to the 2.1TD D8?

Cheers :)

Edit: No, I take it all back

- DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL
- TURBO DIESEL XUD11BTE

2095 55 NFP - INJECTION ES9J4

Something strange is going on here, I'm certain they used to be the same (no longer available) part number :frown:

So I look on the old catalogue and there's 3 part numbers

I just checked LHD cars in case I confused it with that but they're the same.

Sorry about that  I guess 9 months of enforced idleness has softened my brain...

How confusing! So you're saying that they are, in fact, the same part? (on the V6 and 2.1)

Does the first post indicate that there's something shared with the HDi DW10 engine as well?

I was going to post about how the non V6 D8 clutch hydraulics got a reprieve but I came across a post I made a couple of years back saying exactly the same thing  Senility looms I reckon :(

No, they're not the same - Presumably the bore is a different size somewhere, everything else is the same but I guess the V6 clutch is heavier. Or something. It will fit, whether it'll work is another matter...

D8 HDis used the same set up, later cars have the separate master & slave & share the brake m/cylinder reservoir. Unfortunately the two aren't really compatable without changing a shed load of stuff starting with the pedal cluster.

OK, thanks for taking the time to work this out, very helpful of you :)

I think the hydraulics on my 2.1 may be leaking very slightly, so I was wondering if the V6 ones fitted as they're slightly easier to get hold of. There do seem to be some around for the 2.1 on eBay etc, but we're talking £150 odd (for new ones) which is quite a bit.

I know they are a sealed system and have a plastic piece in the slave that snaps on first use. Does this mean fitting a used one is any harder (or impossible)?
