A New Chapter
Farewell guys...
I had a car crash in my 406 tubby. No injuries. Complete shame- the crash was mainly cosmetic but it did ruin the bumper and split the radiator along with a couple of other bits and pieces. It happened less than a week after I MOTed the car also. Just happens that where I crashed the car I couldn't get it back home without spending a couple of hundred pounds more on recovery and with the cost and time implications of repairing it- I would have been looking at too much...
I will keep my account open and will possibly be joining you guys at any meets this year too you'll all be glad to know.
I was going to buy a derv but instead I've acquired a 605 sldt. In the event I need any technical advice or get it into a nice looking state I will be on the forums posting pictures and joining in the banter ;)

Re: A New Chapter
Shame about the tubby - particularly as you couldn't get it back as you could have at least progresses with your 405 turbo plan that you originally had.
Good effort with the 605 though. What's it like? High mile banger or low mile potential classic? They're pretty rare now so if it's a good one, it's well worth keeping. Pretty quick too if the one I nearly bought a few years ago was anything to go by.

Please don't go!
Plenty of us on here no longer own 406s. At least the 605 is still a Peugeot!
Please post pictures and info, I've always liked them but they're as rare as hens teeth!

Sorry to hear about your crash but glad to hear you escaped unscathed!
One thing though - so you just left it there? Won't you get the local council mithering you for scrapping it?
Oooh, is that a 2.1 then? I guess it must be, Bosch or Lucas? Pictures please

Excellent job on the 605, rare as hens teeth but a quality big peugeot, always liked them. You should stick around on the forum, I've just came back on after buying a 405

Re: A New Chapter
The 405 plan... One of the things I looked out for after I'd stripped it was the state of the underneath like I think you'd mentioned actually. Didn't look all roses unfortunately and the engine was in the 140k ballpark so I just sent her to the crap yard unfortunately. It's having it's good bits picked off by Sunday morning scrap hunters I'm afraid it goes =/waue1978 wrote:Shame about the tubby - particularly as you couldn't get it back as you could have at least progresses with your 405 turbo plan that you originally had.

I will be posting of course I just feel a little illegitimate however I suppose I could say the same of Bailes and Disco- not even Peugeots! (and none of that PSA crap Disco ;)!!)sirwiggum wrote:Please don't go!

The 605 is a similar looking vehicle- name suggest it's a lot more in common with the 405 I had prior to the 406 as it lends itself. I'll get snappy as soon as I can with it however it's pretty ill looking in present- It'll get a looking at I'm going from the 2.0 8v turbo to a 2.1 12v derv so a beast of no relation under the bonnet unfortunately for me!highlander wrote:...and will have some common issues, particularly common to D8 406s and their engines - the 605 had:sirwiggum wrote:Plenty of us on here no longer own 406s. Nobody in the car was injured even slightly and the location was the motion responsible for me scrapping it- 160 miles from home at £1.50 per mile plus £50 call out on recovery...steve_earwig wrote:Sorry to hear about your crash but glad to hear you escaped unscathed!

It's been dealt with by recovery fortunately. 2.1 I have a suspicions it's Lucas in the 2.1s unfortunately? Hasn't the Bosch got to be graphted on from a 1.9?
1. Thank you!Doggy wrote:As the others have said & in order of importance:

3. I'm up for attending much the same
4. Haha- cheeky! I'll be sure to ;)
5. only 80k on the clock!

I'd done a few tasteful mods to it that i'd yet to photograph and post- turbo boost gauge (red lighting) with a load of leg and air vent ambient red glow and door handle LEDs- I believe they're sitting about somewhere- If I get a chance before I go out tonight I'll seek them out and UL if not when I put the 605's up. The costs weren't that terrible even for 3am on Easter Sunday... Meh!
I shalln't be shy to repeat the mods on the 605 but with experience this time- can't wait!
The 605 actually lived at my current place of work and used to belong to my boss before changing hands a few times- can't wait to see his reaction when I get it looking new (like when would have owned it) it's been looked afterCountryPug wrote:Sorry to hear about your 406. Glad your ok though

Re: A New Chapter
Oh dear, you do have some catching up to do. Bailes got another 406 (which he is now looking at replacing with a 407 coupe), Disco hasn't been seen on here since last year & I'm still here even though my 406 met it's new owners last Monday.Hangar18 wrote: I will be posting of course I just feel a little illegitimate however I suppose I could say the same of Bailes and Disco- not even Peugeots! I've got a sneaky suspicion that the 605s may have the Bosch pump.Hangar18 wrote: 2.1 I have a suspicions it's Lucas in the 2.1s unfortunately? Hasn't the Bosch got to be graphted on from a 1.9?
