Injector cleaner (diesel)

OK, so I've looked at PP2000 on the HDi90 and according to it the ecu's applying a correction of around -0.8, +1.5, -1.7 and +1 to the injectors at idle (damn, can't remember the units). The measurements appear to get further from 0 the higher the revs get, and I understand this all to be "bad"... so where can I get good injector cleaner from? Are any of the products listed on eurocarparts.com suitable?

I gather I should empty the fuel filter housing of diesel and lob the bottle contents in there neat?

I think Forte stuff is highly regarded, that's what mine always had through it when it was serviced.

Personally I don't like the idea of sending neat cleaner through the pump and injectors but I know jasper does this without any issues I'm more of a "add a bottle to quarter of a tank" kinda guy

The other issue would be the one of actually opening the filter housing to get the stuff in and causing a leak/breaking something but I guess you'd pop in a new filter whilst at it?

I poured it into the filter bowl, á la jasper5, put the rest in the tank, changed the filter .........

Then got another set of injectors.

Cleaner's got to be worth try, but methinks your next stop will be a leak-off test

I know my 1.9 is a different animal but......I put 500ml'ish of forte in with 30 litres of fuel a couple of weeks back, I usually get 230 miles around town from 30 litres and managed 250 with the Forte dosed fuel.
Power delivery is smoother as well so the stuff does work.
I'm running 20 litres of veg to 10 litres of DERV so I used it mainly to degrease any congealed veg hence the higher than normal doseage.
(you ask why always a 20/10 mix...because I decant my veg into a 20 litre drum in the shed, that's why )
Can't comment on smoke reduction is I get very little visible stuff from the exhaust running mainly veg but she feels a bit more sprightly, a touch quieter and the MPG's have gone from 35 to 38 on the same short stop/start journeys I always do.

In short;

will it unblock a clogged injector...yes
will it fix a fubard injector...no
is it worth a punt...definitely

Just get the best professional stuff you can get. Not crappy redex-like that come in 175-200-250-325ml bottles and that treat a whole tank. You need the stuff that comes in 400ml+ metal cans and are suggested to be put in max 20 liter of diesel. Then wait for the tank to be almost empty (10 liters would be perfect), car hot, and put the whole can in the tank. Take the car for a very lively "italian tune up", as I seem to understand you call it

If that does not fix it (look for PP2000 corrections before and after), you need to get them changed / cleaned. Less than 0.5 correction (me too cannot remember the units) would be ideal, 0.5 is good, 1 is the limit, more than 1.5 can on the long run harm your engine's combustion chamber.

I've been using Wynn's Diesel Injector Cleaner.
The recommended dosage is "one bottle per tank"; I've gone as high as twice that.
I believe the results to be good, but I do not have any measurements to prove it.

I have been advised by a couple of people not to bother with treatments there ok for not and stuff but u want the properly done take them to be cleaned by ultrasound it's the best and most effective way but it does cost more

of course ultrasound is way way better, but cleaners can help maybe let you have another year before needing a good clean. I can too reccomend Wynns, but not the stuff mentioned, the more powerful variant they sell for professionals. Also if you go to an injector specialist he could clean them using the special cleaning additive machine, which may help.

I'm thinking I should be able to use a syringe and squirt it in the top after taking one of the little pipes off. Only changed the filter a couple of months ago, and that was a right faff so I don't fancy going there again

There are many. I do not know which brands actively sell in Britain. I have found a good product from Green Star, Super Diesel Injector Cleaner, I think. I do not thin they sell it in UK. Also wynn's sells something similar. 500ml each.
You can try also LiquiMoly, the product name's german thus I do not remember it. Maybe it's better to pop at the local injector place, if you have one, and buy a can of what they use. Or motor factors, if you have a trusty one.
As I told you, it's not a miracolous magic product, every decent chemical company knows how to make a good diesel injector cleaner thus there are tons out there. You just need to pick up one of the "real" ones.

Just save yourself some money and don't get those small bottles which are just 99% kerosene.

Well ive just brought a wynns injector cleaner just to run through mine been having starting problems but adjusted pump and sorted a vac pipe out and seems to run but a little shitty wen first starts so gonna see if it helps if it don't looks like its ultrasound cleaning for my injectors

Redex is mostly kerosene, it will do absolutely nothing to a badly worn injector. I used three tins of redex before using the professional stuff. Redex did nothing, the professional stuff did.

Biodiesel will only worsen the situation. The lubricating performance of biodiesel is even lower than low-sulphur diesel. And it does not clean. You need something that lubricates + clean.
